Hi, I'm Hatty!

I am a recent graduate of The University of Leeds where I achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Film, Photography and Media. 

I have always had a passion for anything creative and a strive to create and produce visual work that is both impactful and aesthetic. Even as a little girl I knew I wanted to be a creative. I was the child that played with the boxes and wrapping paper at Christmas, creating something bizarre and imaginative, rather than playing with the new toys. 

However, it wasn't until Sixth form when I started media studies that I realised it was digital content I wanted to learn and become my career. My A Level subjects helped my develop and learn the key attributes needed to progress into the degree I wanted to do; Media Studies helped me learn softwares and understand the media sphere; Business Studies helped me relate this into a corporate realm, understanding marketing and consumer wants; and Art Textiles allowed me to explore and express my creativity by having full creative autonomy across all of my projects.

The hardest part about deciding to go to University was finding a course that offered the variety that I wanted. At that time I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to pursue, I loved film making, I loved photography and I loved editing. Luckily, The University of Leeds offered exactly what I was after and I was able to explore a huge variety of media and production modules. This is where I found my love and passion for digital artwork, graphics and motion graphics. I chose to specialise in motion graphics and produce a moving image project for my final dissertation.

Anyone that has been to uni can relate to just how tough it can be and as a creative, theres alway a worry about the subjectivity of your work and how others perceive and understand it. Because of this, I have developed a complexity of different styles and aesthetics to be able to fulfil any brief I am tasked with. Along with this, Uni allowed me to develop a positive mindset towards work and a 'can-do' attitude towards life in general. My own personal aim to to be able to create impactful and visually engaging work that both myself and others can be proud of.

I have been lucky enough to be able to pursue creative media as both a hobby and in higher education and my hope is that it can also become my full time career.
